Real McCoy Remixes

The minute I heard “Another Night” on the radio, I was an instant fan of Real McCoy. I recall it being a time that the eurodance genre was just breaking into the U.S. and I couldn’t get enough of it. So when Real McCoy’s debut single shot to #3 on the US Billboard Hot 100, I couldn’t be happier. Then came their follow-up single “Run Away,” and a full-length album, which was music to my EDM-loving ears.

Before they were an international success, Real McCoy had released an LP in 1990 under the name M.C. Sar & The Real McCoy. Several singles from the album charted overseas, but once they dropped the ‘M.C. Sar’ logo, Real McCoy was a household name.

Having gone through several lineup changes over the course of their success, Real McCoy originated with M.C. Sar himself, O-Jay (aka Olaf Jeglitza). O-Jay is the primary male vocalist, while the female vocals have included Patsy Peterson, Yvonne Parker, Vanessa Mason, Lisa Cork-Twiss, Gabriele Koopmans, Debbie Butts, Gemma J, and the infamous original Real McCoy vocalist Karin Kasar. I will include separate articles on additional dance music projects by O-Jay, as well as some of the ladies who were once part of the band.

As of 2016, O-Jay and Karin have united for various performances and festivals. I am crossing my fingers that this may lead to some new music altogether.
