Maroon 5 is an American pop-rock band from Los Angeles, California. Lead singer, Adam Levine, was only 15 when the group was formed under the name Kara’s Flowers. With little success, the members decided to disband and focus on college. Then, in 2001, they reconnected and came up with a new band name, now known as Maroon 5. The following year, they found success with their breakout hit, “Harder To Breathe.” It reached #18 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. Their follow-up single, “This Love,” climbed to #5 on the Hot 100, and #21 on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. Three years later, they nab their first #1 on both the Hot 100 and the Dance Club Songs charts with “Makes Me Wonder.”
Originally consisting of five members, Maroon 5 has now grown into a seven-member band. There is Adam Levine on lead vocals, Jesse Carmichael on keyboards and rhythm guitar, Mickey Madden on bass, James Valentine on lead guitar, Matt Flynn on drums, PJ Morton on keyboards, and Sam Farrar on multiple instruments. Their catchy pop songs makes them vulnerable to DJ’s and remixers, allowing them to find significant success on the dance charts. They’ve been remixed by some of the biggest names in the dance industry. The guys even released a remix album in 2008, Call and Response: The Remix Album.
