Rob Thomas is the lead vocalist of the band Matchbox Twenty. As a group, they reached number one in the US on the Billboard Adult Alternative Chart with the single “3AM.” A few years later, in 2000, they took their hit single “Bent” all the way to the top of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Matchbox Twenty has had tremendous success as a pop rock band, and are not typically known for dance music. However, once Rob recorded a solo album, DJ’s and remixers took his debut single and gave it a dance flare. Sure enough, his single “Lonely No More” climbed all the way to #1 on the US Billboard Dance Club Play Chart. Given the success he found on the dance charts, other solo singles were remixed for the clubs. And keeping the trend going, new Matchbox Twenty singles were also given the remix treatment.
