At the age of 14, Lisa Stansfield entered a singing competition called Search for a Star, and she won. Four years later, she joined Ian Devaney and Andy Morris to form the synth-pop group, Blue Zone. Together, they released one album and several dance singles, with their sixth and final single actually climbing the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart to peak at #37. That following year, Lisa went solo, and was featured on the single “People Hold On,” by Coldcut. That track climbed to #6 on the Dance Club Songs chart. And later that year, Lisa released her first solo single in Europe called “This Is The Right Time.” That track actually became the third single in the U.S., and climbed all the way to #1 on the Dance Club Songs chart. Her first solo release in the US was “All Around The World,” and that single topped the dance chart as well, solidifying her stance as a successful dance artist in America.
Lisa has topped the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart seven times thus far, and in December 2016, Billboard Magazine ranked her as the 46th most successful dance artist of all-time. Well deserved!
