Vanessa Williams is a former Miss America, the first African-American winner to hold the title, and she’s also a successful singer, actress, and fashion designer. During the talent portion of the Miss America pageant, Vanessa showed off her vocal chops and instantly gained recognition. Four years later, she released her debut album, The Right Stuff.
Vanessa took her first single, the title track, to #44 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. However, over on the Dance Club Songs chart, it climbed all the way to #1. She did manage to top the Hot 100 chart with her ballad “Save The Best For Last.”
