Scissor Sisters was formed in 2001 as a five-member pop band. The members include Jake Shears, Ana Matronic, Babydaddy, Del Marquis, and Randy Real. They differentiate themselves with their unique style, integrating sounds of dance, pop rock, glam rock, nu-disco, and electro-clash. Although the band originates from New York City, they found huge success in the UK. And even though they have yet to chart on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart, they have accumulated three #1 singles on the Dance Club Songs chart. Even Jake, as a solo artist, climbed to #1 on the dance chart with his collaboration with NERVO, Kylie Minogue, and Nile Rodgers, titled “The Other Boys.” Ana came very close, with a collaboration with New Order, reaching #3 on the dance chart with “Jetstream.”
FUN FACT: The Scissor Sisters single, “Comfortably Numb,” is a cover version of Pink Floyd’s original single from 1980.
FUN FACT #2: In 2004, U2 frontman Bono, described Scissor Sisters as “the best pop group in the world.”
