Jody Watley Loves The Nightlife

Jody Watley, who first hit number one on the Billboard Dance Charts in 1987 with her debut solo single “Looking For A New Love,” is back with a brand new single and video. The new song, appropriately titled “Nightlife,” shows that Watley is still a thrill to clubgoer’s and dance music fans all over the world. With her latest effort, she introduces us to a new disco sound, and even brings in former bandmember Gerald Brown for the Dave Doyle remix. Watley and Brown were both members of a disco funk group active in the 1970s and 80s called Shalamar. Coincidentally, the accompanying video uses the Dave Doyle remix, and includes an appearance from Gerald Brown.

The video is quite a treat, as you see the ageless Watley being escorted through the streets in an ice cream van. Perhaps the city is short on cabs, or she’s just short on cab fare? Or maybe she’s bound for Moo Moo Land with The KLF and Tammy Wynette? Either way, it’s bound to be a heart-thumping ride to the milky way.
