Example is a British singer and rapper who has found success in the dance genre. He has worked with big-name DJ’s such as Calvin Harris, Don Diablo, Laidback Luke, Jacob Plant, Professor Green, and even the Pet Shop Boys. He gained his star status when he released his second album, Won’t Go Quietly, in 2010. That album reached #1 on the UK Dance Album chart, as did his next three follow-up albums.
FUN FACT: Example’s first music video, for the song “What We Made,” was filmed in Chernobyl. Chernobyl is the Ukrainian city that was evacuated in 1986 due to a nuclear power plant disaster. Thousands died, and the city remains uninhabitable.
FUN FACT #2: Example recorded his Live Life Living album using the same microphone that Madonna used to record her Confessions On A Dancefloor album. He is quoted saying “This mic is fucking amazing,” and credited Madonna for the success of his album by saying “Madonna’s mic was special. When you hear the opening track on the album, my voice has a sound quality that I’ve never been able to capture before. There’s a certain mystique around it that you can’t explain, because that album reignited her career. I don’t think she’s had the same success since. It must be the magic mic!”
