British DJ Duke Dumont has released a follow-up to his #1 record “Need U (100%).” But this time around, he doesn’t need U, because he got U. That’s right. His new single is called “I Got U,” featuring record producer Jax Jones. Just like “Need U,” this record has a unique sound that manages to deliver a pure authentic dance piece.
The first time I heard this, several things were happening. First, hearing the music instantly put my state of mind at a tropical paradise somewhere with sun, beaches, and bottomless margaritas. When you hear it, you will totally understand. Second, when I heard the lyrics I knew they were taken from another record that I played out loud on the stereo some fifteen years ago. Within mere seconds, I guessed it was from the classic Whitney Houston track “My Love Is Your Love.” Although, this wasn’t as hard a guess as one would think because the vocals so closely resemble those by Whitney that I thought it might actually be Whitney for a second. However, the vocalist is soul singer Kelli-Leigh, who recently traveled with Adele to sing backup on her ’21 Tour.’
“I Got U” has already reached number one in several countries, and I am sure it will continue to grow worldwide with every listen. There’s no doubt that this will be a summer anthem hit. Also adding to the playlist are remixes by MK, Tensnake, Jonas Rathsman, Bondax and High Contrast.
If you saw Duke’s previous video, you were probably laughing and dancing at the same time. So, keeping with the same tone, the “I Got U” video is just as crazy and funny. Check it out below, and leave your comments.
