At the young age of seventeen, Clara Mae was participating in singing competitions and studying jazz vocals and piano. She appeared on the Swedish talent show, Next Star, performing the vocal-challenging smash hit “I Will Always Love You” by Whitney Houston. She placed second in that competition. A year later, she competed in another Swedish singing program called Idol 2009. She failed to make the finals. But no worries, because later that same year she was asked to join Ulf and Jonas of Ace Of Base as a lead vocalist on their upcoming album. Now that is a major win!
In her early years, Clara was fortunate enough to work with some big DJ’s like David Guetta, Tiesto, and KREAM. After recording and performing with Ace Of Base for two years, she moved on to pursue a solo career. Her singles were gaining lots of attention on Spotify, and she broke out on the US Billboard Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart with her single, “Taped Up Heart,” with KREAM. She was also featured as one of YouTube Music’s Artists on the Rise in June 2018.
