All Saints is a girl group that gained stardom in 1997. Their hit single, “Never Ever,” was a success all across the globe. It was their first #1 single in a number of countries, and even reached #4 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles chart. “Pure Shores” was another giant smash for the girls. I remember that song fondly, after watching the movie The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio. One of my favorite movies paired with one of my favorite songs.
The girls of All Saints originally called themselves All Saints 1.9.7.5., several years before hitting it big. That original name was crafted after the name of their recording studio, followed by the year that all three original members were born in. Those three members were Melanie Blatt, Shaznay Lewis, and Simone Rainford. But after Simone left the group, two sisters, Nicole and Natalie Appleton joined the remaining duo. That’s when they dropped the “1975” form their name and were simply All Saints.
The ladies have worked with one of my favorite producers, William Orbit, on a number of songs throughout their career. Orbit has worked with Britney Spears and Robbie Williams, and has been a favorite of mine ever since he worked with Madonna on her Ray Of Light album.
The group split a couple of times, accounting for some solo efforts listed below, but the lovely four ladies would reunite to continue churning out hits as All Saints. As of 2020, the ladies again are on a hiatus, but I’m hoping they’ll reunite once again to make some more magic together.
